aight so my stats don't look too hot for medill right now (3.8, 31act)

so would it be easy to transfer in as a sophomore into medill?
if so..from which schools would it be easier to transfer from...
i'm thinking michigan, michigan state, mizzou? right now...anyone else? what are your thoughts?

another option would be applying to weinberg, taking a freshman seminar (a small class of 10-15 students taught by a top professor) with a medill prof. if you do well in that class you would be able to transfer into medill. and you wouldn't have to go through **** with transferring to a whole new school. i know someone who did this this past quarter.

generally medill and theater are the two hardest programs to be accepted into. i have no idea how much harder it is, but if you have completely given up hope on medill, you might as well apply to weinberg as well as mich. and missouri.

but if you have good journalism extracurriculars, you should have a good chance at medill. 31 is right on target for admission to nu, and 3.8 is not a bad gpa if you're in the top decile of your class

basically my advice is this... transferring to a whole other school would suck really, really bad. and if your heart is set on medill, you should apply there. however, if you really like northwestern (which you should, because it is awesome), it may be easier to get into weinberg.

That's what I want to know, too. Also applying as a transfer (from Brown/Tulane) and I don't think my stats are good enough to get into Medill just yet.

okay..what would be considered "good journalism extracurriculars"?

i'm editor in chief of our school paper, have been on staff for two years. (newspaper is a class, so it's tough to fit in schedules - but i'll be taking four semesters of it) I've been to journalism camp at Mich State. and i'm going to have an apprenticeship and the detroit free press this summer...
