Chances for transferring to USC please!

Hey everyone. I posted a week or two ago but didnt receive a very good reply turnout. I was hoping this time I could get a few more opinions. I am a freshman @ UNLV and want to transfer to USC next fall.

i am planning to get a 4.0 gpa this fall in college. im gonna have 30 credits by the end of the year with no problem.

What are my chances taking into account that I will do much better on my SAT's this nov. I am shooting for a 1350ish score. I never studied fort he SATs, so this one i will take seirously and study.

Is your 4.6 GPA weighted or unweighted, and is it out of 4.0 or 5.0?

whoa take a chill pill buddy. your good-to-go, it seems. it depends what major you want too. bizadmin, engineering, communications are all really tough, but even then i would say youre good. dont worry about your sats that nuch b/c i dont think they require them if youre a trasfer. make sure you let them know you work while in college, they respect that kind of stuff.

also, now that i think of it, it may not be possible for you to transfer next fall. youll be a sophmore then, correct? i think youll hac=ve to wait another yr to be considered for admissions. call and find out. 213-740-1111. i use to call them every other day, i memoirized their number.

Hmmm as far as i know, I can transfer. They state on their site that virtually anyone can transfer, even if you have less than 30 credits. BTW, the GPA scale is out of a 4.0 scale

3.9x (I forget exactly) unweighted
4.6 weighted

<--stand corrected

LOL, you can get into a lot of schools w/ a 3.9 UW and 4.6 weighted.

lol, well the fact of the matter is i got rejected last yr from usc with those stats!!! : /

Wow. That's pretty weird for USC (?!), not that I'm criticizing its admissions policy, but its weird they rejected a qualified candidate (with the exception of the SAT score)

ya no offense but that sat score is low by marshall school standards. i dont think you have to tell them your sat if you transfer. actually now that i think about it, you probably do if you transfer soph. yr. but its not heavily weighted on like for freshman. youll be just fine, youve proven yourself at uni.

This year's entering class had an average SAT of around 1360. The SAT average for accepted students was around 1370.

my sat was 1210, btw. in the end, statistics dont mean ish ;)

I believe if you do well on your essays and application, you should have no trouble getting in, rather your concern may be not whether you get in, but how much, if any, financial aid you will be given.

Actually my SAT scores were not so hot. I ended up getting a 1270 and as far as my college GPA is concerned, it will most likely be a 3.45-3.75 range : /

I can't rate your chances, sorry...but does anybody know if it is easier to transfer to USC from a UC or from a CSU?

its harder to transfer to SC from uc or csu. SC wants communtiy college students, its the whole point behind that system to transfer. SC thinks that students from ucs and csus already have a four yr school that they can finish at, so there is no urgency to take on those students. in fact, im pretty sure thats how all schools are about hteir transfer acceptance policy, community college students always take priority.

i did it though, uci->USC. its not impossible, but less probable. besides you will save money at a community college. its a good system, especailly in cali.

I know this post is old but they probably didn’t accept you because of the University you went to. USC has articulation agreements with certain universities. Your university probably wasn’t one of those so they rejected you.

This thread is 9 years old and the poster above is completely incorrect. Hopefully the thread will be closed.

No I’m not. I got all that information directly from USC’s website.
