*Main area of concern: ACT score.

Hello. Your grades are top notch and you have very good extracurricular activities for Ann Arbor. You also say that you have a very difficult course load. As it stands now, you do have a chance, but that chance will DRASTICALLY increase if you can raise your ACT score even 3 points. Consider taking the SAT as well. If you can do that one thing, you should have as good a chance as anyone else applying to get in. Good luck. Can you please give me advice as well.

Don’t Worry your in…

Can I ask how competitive your high school is? As someone who does not know the details of your situation, a salutatorian and a 25 ACT do not seem to match. Yes, some students are weaker test-takers, and it’s not everything. But the quality of your school will heavily influence Michigan’s decision, since your rank has to make up for the 25 score.

If you raise it just a few points, however, you seem to be set.

Oh srry i misread, I thought it said 35 ACT not 25. Yah you definitely need to get it up a couple of points to at least a 27 and your in. Good Luck :)

My school is not very competitive, but I can’t raise my score, I’ve taken it so much, I feel it’s humanly impossible for me to raise it. So my chances are probably really slim.
it’s just really confusing, some people tell me I’ll get in and others are like it would be hard. Maybe I should just go to MSU, I may not even be intelligent enough to handle UMich.

Any salutatorian is “intelligent enough to handle UMich.” If you feel you can’t raise your ACT, just apply to UMich and see what happens. No one here knows anything you don’t. Your score is low, yes, but that doesn’t mean they can’t accept you.

That’s true, I’ll still apply. Give it my all on my essays, and see what happens. Thank You

Yah definitely apply to UMich, you should go for it. I’m pretty sure you’ll be a borderline applicant so those essays (and maybe recs) are gonna make you or break you. If I were to bet my life-savings on it, I say you get in… I’m also applying to UMich too next year but im OOS
.

Apply to both. The worst thing that happens is that you get accepted to MSU but not UM…everyone gets down in the dumps over their academics occasionall, but trust me. you will be fine.

To help with your ACT score, try the SAT…ACT requires a different type of thinking and a more well rounded education. If you did well at the reading/writing portions and adequate at the math on the ACT, you’ll do fine on the SAT.
Best of luck

Thank You, everyone so much, i wrote 1/3 essays. If you want to critique it let me know! I’ll PM you, (:

Have you started the sup. essay about what specific qualities attract you to a specific undergraduate college? I wanna start that one but i’m drawing a serious blank on how to approach it…You should PM your essay to Silverturtle, that guy knows everything and can provide you with accurate feedback.

No I did the one about ewjat community do you belong to and your place within it or something, but I’ll try PMing him, thanks, when I do that one I’ll let you know though! Thanks!

How did you take the hardest classes your school offered but only 7 honors classes. And are any of the classes weighted?

No, they aren’t weighted.
We only recently got honors classes
and when they were available,
i took them, so yes there were
only 7 of them.
