Chances for UC Davis and UC Santa Barbara

Thanks for taking the time to read this, and don't be afraid to be totally honest! I just want to know if I've got a decent chance.

-asian female junior at a very competitive high school (california)
-3.72 weighted gpa--not sure what my unweighted gpa is right now, but I can safely guess that it's around 3.2-3.3 (pathetic, i know, but there's been an upwards trend since my freshman year, if that helps).
-2200 SAT (790 CR, 680 M, 730 W)
-790 SAT II (US History)
-National Merit Scholarship commended student
-AP Euro (5), AP Art History (4), AP Lang. & Comp. (5), AP US History (4)
-I'm taking 2 more APs my senior year

ECs:
-interned at vet hospital for one summer
-LINK Crew leader (basically we're assigned a small group of freshmen to mentor).
-American Cancer Society (vice president, 2 years)
-California Scholarship Federation (3 years)
-50+ hours of community service
-Piano (11 years)
-JV lacrosse (3 years)

Could you also recommend some safety and match schools (preferably in state)? thanks! :D

You have a good chance at both. maybe like 90% at UCSB and 85% at UCD, but perhaps higher than that. Your high SAT scores alone probably wouldn’t make up for your low gpa, but because you have an upward trend + good Ec’s they probably will. The subject test can only help you with that score, but I don’t know how much UC’s are considering them now, how they’re being factored in. Maybe they are taking an average across SAT sections plus any provided subject tests, for each student.

I was in a similar position (2270 SAT, 3.2UW gpa, 3.5W) but was rejected from UCD. However, I had pathetic Ec’s and a downward trend in my GPA (with multiple C’s junior year).

UCD isn’t too hard to get into. My friend applied as a nursing major with around a 1600-1700 on her SAT, and less than a 4.0. She had a lot of ECs though especially those that pertained to her major (ie. Hospital volunteer). You’ll be fine :)

UC Davis - Match/ Low Reach
and UC Santa Barbara- match

Since your application shows positive signs you might get into both

yayyy I’m relieved to hear that I have a decent chance…thanks for your input everyone!!
