Chances for UC Irvine and Baylor??

Only took ACT once and got a 24 (super low, I know, but planning on taking it as many times as I can to reach a higher score)

Unweighted GPA: 3.83
Weighted GPA: 4.33
Weighted and capped: 4.33

Also, as a TN resident, UCs don’t give out FA for OOS, so what is the best bet for me to receive any kind of aid to afford it??? <$40,000 annual income. Secondly, is it hard to get FA from Baylor? Any advice and tips are greatly appreciated!!

I’m a first generation so any tips for anything for the application and prep process would be HIGHLY APPRECIATED!

Baylor and UCI are my top schools

Thanks!!

There is no way to afford a UC, unless you are close to full pay. The UC’s provide good need-based aid to in-state applicants not out of state applicants. There are some academic based scholarships such as Regents ($2500/year for UCI) but little $$$ in comparison to the $60K/year costs. Regents is awarded to the top 1-2% of applicants and an ACT of 24 is not going to cut it.

I suggest if you want to study in California, look at some of the private schools and aim for a 31+ ACT for the best chances at merit aid.
