Chances for UC San Diego with only 2 subject tests?

I am an incoming senior and I am aspiring medical student and I really want to go to UC San Diego for either Chemistry or Biology (leaning to Biology). I have a 33 on ACT but I am retaking it to try for a higher score. I have 4.4 GPA (freshman-junior). I’ve taken 6 APs so far and I got 5s on all of them; I will take 4 more this fall. I have pretty solid extracurricular activities that I’ve been involved in since freshman year that includes Mock trial secretary, paid tutor, and an intense Art program. I also hold a part time job over the summer and volunteer at the hospital and a local pet shelter. This summer, I will also be going to a scientific field work expedition and a medical camp.

Ok, so the problem that I just started to worry about is the SAT subject test. I already took one in Chemistry and scored 770, and I was planning on taking Math Level II this September or October. But when I asked a lot of the high-achieving students in my school they said they were going to take at least 3-4. So now I’m starting to worry that I should take more so that I can stay competitive with all the other applicants to UC San Diego. Being that I might want to major in Biology, I thought about taking the Bio Subject Test. But I haven’t taken AP Bio yet (I’m taking it senior year) so taking the subject test would be risky. Will this hurt me? Especially if I apply to major in Biology? UC San Diego is my first choice and I cannot see myself going anywhere else!

UCSD (and all other UCs) do not require Subject Tests for admission. But I would recommend you take at least two, which in this case can be: Math 2, Bio, and/or Chem.

It’s not required but it is “Recommended for engineering, biological or physical sciences majors:
Math Level 2 and a SAT Subject Test closely related to your major” according to their examination requirements. And being a UC the chances are a lot of students will have subject tests under their belt. I’m just worried that not taking the Bio Subject Test will hurt me when I apply as a Bio major?

@Atim10 You should take the Bio test. E/M you choose.
