Chances for UCI, FSU, and UF?

Hey everyone, I'm a Texas resident and my top criminology colleges are the UC Irvine, Florida State, and the University of Florida.

On a 4.0 scale, my GPA is a 3.6 (3.5625, exactly), and on a 5.0 scale I have a 4.3938. My June SAT score was an 1820 (600 reading, 630 math, 590 writing) and I'm going to retake the SAT this October in hopes of getting something near a 2000. I'm 113 of 681 in my class. (sad I know)

I play the flute and piccolo, and was in band for two years and got lots of awards from that. I'm in National Honor Society and French National Honor Society. Principal flutist in band and symphony orchestra, and social officer in FNHS.

Oh and btw, I forgot to answer the optional household income question on the FSU app. Do y'all think that would in any way affect my chances of admission? I send in another application but that might annoy the admissions office...

I honestly don’t think you will get into UF

It is pretty tough to get into nowadays, especially for an out of state student.

My son is applying as an in-state student, with similar gpa, much better SATs, but not much in the way of ECs, and he has been told by his college counselor that he is not a shoe in.

Think I’ll get into FSU then? FSU is one of my top choices; it’s higher on my list than UF.

From the Florida State website. Accepted students, so actual may be a bit lower, but still a good representation:

See: [The Florida State University](<a href=“Florida State University”>Florida State University)

I agree FSU is better for Criminology than UF. It has one of the best schools in the world for this subject. See: https://www.criminology.fsu.edu/

Good luck!

Is that a 3.9 on a weighted scale?

Must be on a 5.0 scale if the Honors students report an average of 4.3.

Awesome, I think I have a shot of getting in then! Thank you parent2noles!

It’s better to turn in my application during the first admissions round, right? I’m planning to get mine in by mid September…just have to finish and polish my essay and send in transcripts/test scores
