My dad works at UCSD (faculty) would this help at all for UC Berkeley or UCLA admissions?

Chance for UCLA, UC Berkeley, UCSD

You have everything you need but your gpa is just so low. UCLA and UCB will be high reaches. UCSD will be a reach as well. I don’t think having a parent on faculty will help but I could be wrong.*

UC’s are very numbers based. Gpa and sat seem to matter to them more than EC’s. You would probably have a better chance at a similarly or slightly lower ranked private college that will look at you more holistically.*

Good luck and I hope you get in!*

What’s your UC GPA? The avg. UC GPA for SD was 4.04, 4.17 and .18 for LA and Berkeley respectively.

It’ll be a high reach, however.
Having a faculty member being a parent will help for admissions only at SD, not in the UC system as a whole.
UCSD: mid to high reach
UCLA: high reach (possibly mid)
UC Berkeley: high reach (possibly mid)
Your SAT score will help, however.
Remember to have your counselor write the reason as to why you got low grades.

Chance me back please?

Have you stopped taking your medication and will it show a huge improvement in your mid-term grades in the Fall? If you can somehow get straight A’s and offer a medical explanation supported by your physician, your chances would improve. Still somewhat of a longshot, however. It might be too little too late, but it’s worth a try. There might be good essay material contained in your medical history. Good luck!

my UC GPA is a 3.74 :/

A 3.4 UW is really going to hurt you and make these schools mid-reaches. I still think you have a chance of getting in, though–beast your essay!
