Chances for UCLA and UC Irvine?

My best SAT Score total: 1890

SAT Breakdown: 600 Reading
670 Math
620 Writing

I will be taking one last SAT (hoping for 2100+).

My Sophmore GPA: 3.33. I did not take any APs this year.

My Junior GPA: Weighted is 3.67 Second Semester
Unweighted is 3.33 Second Semester
3.00 Unweighted First Semester

Took 2 APs in Junior year: AP Calc AB & AP Bio. For both courses, I earned a C first semester and a B second semester. I got 5 on both AP tests though.

So, how do you think my chances are with my current scores? And how are my chances AFTER (if I do) I get a 2100 on SAT?

Thanks!

Even with a 2100 on the SAT…well, your GPA is kind of low. UCLA would most likely be a reach. Do you have any ECs that you are focused on/committed? Is there a reason why you had a C in the first semester? I guess I’m being a little superficial with concentrating so much on the GPA, but UCLA is becoming increasingly competitive, so you probably have a low chance of getting accepted.

UC Irvine…I’m not sure. It might still be a bit of a reach.

Your best chance would be to use your essay to stand out, or your ECs.

Realisically, UCLA is definitely out of question (4.2 GPA). UCI maybe, you need 4.0 and 1800 for a good chance. Prepare for plan B. It also depends on the major too. Engineering and science will be tough.

Irvine is looking like it’ll be the more likely school where you will get acceptance
