Chances for UCLA CS Major

Hey Everyone,

This is my first post here and I'd like to know what my chances are for getting into UCLA as a Computer Science Major. I also have another question that I'll write after I put down all my info.

GPA: 4.0

I've taken all math classes up Differential Equations, except for Linear Algebra.

I'm currently taking the Mechanics of Solids and Fluids Physics Course, but I still have to take Electricity and Magnetism and a course called Wave Motion, Heat and Optics.

I've taken a lot of CS classes, acing them all, except for C++ which I'm planning on taking next semester. I even took an optional JavaScript programming class because JavaScript interests me. I know that the credits won't transfer, but will the fact that I took that class help me in any way?

I'm a little worried about extracurriculars. My first semester I worked part time at the amusement park, then I got a job doing production at a printing/graphic design company. I've been working there for about a year now, about 20 hours a week. This past spring I tutored a high school student with Algebra, and I also tutored a fellow Computer Science student in a class we were both taking at the same time (I guess it goes to show how much I excelled). Right now, I also maintain a website for a church. But besides work/tutoring/church website, that's pretty much it.

I've been planning out my future schedule based on what I need to take, and I think that I will have taken all of the classes I need by next Fall. But that's the problem exactly––since they only accept applications in the Fall, I'll have one "extra" semester where I won't have any classes I'll need. Is this a common problem? What should I do with that extra semester if I don't need to take anything? Should I work full-time? Should I take classes I don't need? I'm a little confused and stressed out about this aspect.

Anyway, please let me know if I'm in good condition or not for UCLA Computer Science and how I can improve regardless of that condition.

Thank you so much!! :D

Good chance for UCLA.
Your EC is fine.

I think you’re pretty set to go for UCLA.
