Chances for UCLA, UCSC, USC, UCSB, and UCSD?

What are my chances at getting into UCLA, UCSC, USC, UCSB, and UCSD?

I have 3.1 UW GPA and 3.3 W GPA. I am in 3 AP classes. I was in 1 my sophomore year, but dropped it.

I am a Junior in High School, and the top 30% of my class.

My ACT score was 28, going for 30.

I am in the National Honor Society, Newspaper Club, SADD Club (students against destructive decisions), I was in Volleyball my Freshman year, Literary Magazine, another club that is committed to helping students fight stereotypes/bullying, and Theater Guides.

I have done volunteer work for NHS, need at least I think 40 hours for it.

I don't mean to boast, but I am a solid writer. I have been told by many of my peers that it is my strong talent.

I am from Illinois, and I believe I am the first generation that will go to college. Icr.
I really want to go to one of these schools. It has always been my dream. Does anyone have any stories where they were in my same position and got into one of them?

Thanks!

UCLA and UCSD would be very high reaches due to your gpa. I am not sure about the other schools but all of the schools you listed are very competitve and I think your gpa needs to be higher to get in. But hey it never hurts to apply!

Work hard and boost those GPAs. The good news for you is that the UCs are increasing the amount of out-of-state students they accept. UCs also heavily weigh the application essay…so write a strong, compelling essay.

You also need to discuss with your family how much they can afford for your education. You don’t want to take out huge student loans for a dream college experience in California. UCs and USC are really expensive without student grants.
