am a junior & plan to major in sociology or linguistics
Here are my stats:
GPA: 4.0 uw
SAT: 2330 (m 800, cr 750, w 780)
SAT II: Korean (800), Japanese (750), Math 1(780), Math 2(800), will take Chinese this november
AP: I only took 3 so far (AP Bio, APUSH, AP Music Theory), will take AP ENG LIT, AP CALC BC, AP Human geo and AP Japanese next year
EC:
- Class President (9)
- volunteered at Korean school (200+ hrs)
- translated letters for a nonprofit organization that helps kids in africa – the sponsor sends letters to their sponsor kid in Korean, i translate it in English (or vice versa) ( 60+ hrs)
- Student reporter for a newspaper
- President of Korean Club (10,11)
- VP of UNICEF (10, 11)
- service trip (mission trip from church) - 10, 11
AWARDS:
- award from my city mayor, (9)
- Chinese speech contest (10- 2nd, 11-1st) i’m not chinese, btw
- AP scholar
- that’s pretty much it…
(oh and a writing contest – 3rd place)
I came to the states beginning of my sophomore year from a non-English speaking country.
(I lived in 3 other countries before that, though… so 5 countries total. I moved around a lot bc of my dad’s job, and I have a lot to write on my essay based on my experiences…
UCLA’s my ultimate dream school but I feel like my EC’s and awards are weak…

And also for these schools: UCSD, UC Berkeley, UPenn (I feel like it’s a VERY high reach though)
