Chances for UCLA

Hello, I'm sure many of you see plenty of these everyday, but hey, a question is a question all the same.

Here's a bit of background:
I just started my senior year in high school so most of these statistics are from junior year and prior, keep in mind that I'm now enrolled in 6 AP classes and will have an estimated GPA of 5.0 for my Senior year (weighted of course). Additionally, my high school is one of the top rated high schools in my state. And lastly, I'm looking into a political science major. Also, I'm white.

Academics:
Academic GPA (unweighted): 4.0
Academic GPA (weighted): 4.5
Enrolled in Honors or AP classes: yes (straight A's)
In the top 10% of my class. (13 of 733)
SAT: 2050 (will be taking again in November for sure)
-Math: 670
-CR: 690
-Writing: 690
SAT II:
-Chemistry: 760
-US History: 750
(also taking Math level 2 and lit. in October)
No ACT yet (taking in October)

AP Scores:
-World History: 3
-Chemistry: 3
-US History: 5
-English Lang.: 5

Extracurricular:
Played on the JV water polo team for 2 years, captain in the second year.
Vice President of my high school's NHS.
Founder and President of the school's Skiing and Snowboarding Club.
Co-captain of my school's academic decathlon team
and I'm on the FBLA competition team (2nd place in Parlemantary procedures at section XD not that that counts for much).
I won't bother to list the clubs I'm a member of, either than competition teams, I don't think that colleges care.
Outside of school, I'm a volunteer for RFB&D, or reading for the blind and dyslexic, which records text books for, well, the blind and dyslexic.

My major passion and hobby is hiking, and over the course of my 4 high school years I've done a majority of the famous American hikes (I.E. Mount Whitney, Half Dome, Grand Canyon, working on McKinley)

Lastly, one thing that has been following me all of high school has been the fact that, due to class sizes, I was unable to take an honors math class freshmen and sophomore year. If I would have taken those classes I would have had a 4.6 GPA and would have been ranked number 1. To make up for the fact that I had a lower GPA those two years, I dropped some unimportant credits from my junior year, bringing my GPA up to a 4.5 from a 4.4 (accumulative). Anyway, do you think that the fact that I couldn't take those classes will make a difference, especially since I made up a bit for it junior year?

Your gpa is great, and I think raising your SAT score to a 2200 or above will make you a strong candidate. I don’t know what a “great” EC is but you show good leadership by founding a club. Also, hiking is a unique EC that I’ve yet to see, and the mountains you’ve hiked makes the universities see how serious you are about it. The rank issue does suck, but i don’t think it will be the factor that makes/breaks you. Be sure to have an amazing essays as UCLA holds them of high importance.

Also, with your grades, you should definitely be in ELC. If you are in it, it will give you a much better shot.

*Chance me back =D

You don’t need a 2200 for any UC. Your current score is exactly the average for admitted students at UCLA. As long as your GPA (UC which counts only soph and jr years and not all weighted classes) is about their average 4.2, you’re in good shape if you’re a fully pay OOS student.

Yes you seem to be and ELC student, are you instate?
Historically ELC students at UCLA have an 60% acceptance rate.

Your UC score is 78+82+82+92+93 = 427 out of a possible 500, so not bad at all.
I think your chances are very good :)

^ Yes I am ELC, and how did you calculate this UC score?

Thanks for the feedback so far!

Ah, never mind on the UC score question, I looked it up. Hopefully, and if all goes well, that UC score will be up to 83-90s for the SAT I’s.

I took them December of my junior year, I’m thinking that just the experience I have from my classes now will be enough to boost those scores to 2100+

We will see for SAT 2s, but UC score is calculated based on the two highest, so even if I don’t break 700 on math and lit do you think I’ll still have a decent shot?

bump for more opinions!

bump, there got to be some more people out there willing to chance!

you have a great shot at ucla!! probably even better if you bring up your sat (maybe you should try taking the act?), but even otherwise i think you’ll get in

Thanks, do you think i still have a shot even if i don’t do well on my other SAT 2s?

You have a really good shot, and you’ll probably get in. =D
