Chances For UC's and U of M.

I am going to a California Distinguished School. I am also pursuing a IB diploma. I am Indian and want to be a neurosurgeon. So, Please Chance me for all UC's and if possible, then University of Michigan. I am worried that since premed at UC's is probably competitive, I might not make it.
I am pretty sure about these calculations.

Hook- My family has a history of diabetes, therefore I want to be a doctor or med category to help others.

Cumulative GPA Weighted-4.05
UW-3.717
10-12 GPA Weighted-4.259
UW-3.77
UC Weighted GPA capped -4.17
UW-3.81

I have a slight upward trend.

Freshman- 3.83/3.33
Sophomore- 4.00/3.57
Junior- 4.67/4.8

SAT-2150 M-750 CR-700 W-700
SAT II- Biology-750 Chemistry-700

AP World History: 3
AP Chem-5
APUSH-4
AP Bio -3

I took all honors possible and 5 AP/IB in junior year first semester and 6 in second semester.

I don't which extracurriculars to use for you guys to chance me, so Im putting most of them.

Exc's- I helped a poor village in India during summer time and have letters from doctors over there who worked in the hospitals. Will these be credible? I don't know how else to prove this besides photographs and letters since it was not a formal program such as Peace Corp.

Clubs:
Science Olympiad - 2 years (11-12).
Grey Matters- 11-12
Treasurer for poetry club- 2 years (11-12)
Mecha club-2 yrs (9-10)
Future Doctors of America-2 yrs. (11-12)
National Honor Society - For IB 1 year in senior year
Local County Art Awards in Freshman Year.( 3 first places, 2 second places, 1 fourth place).
Volunteered from 10th grade in summer in a Virginia Hospital. 60 hours and certificate (Will Continue some more Volunteering for IB CAS Hours). Hoping to get 150+ hours.

I could not be committed since I had to move at the beginning of junior year.

I do not have a lot of extracurriculars or volunteering.

I had to move at the beginning of junior year but continued with IB, so i don't know how this will affect my chances. I prize my exc's on the art awards and volunteering in India.

My letters might include having to move almost 5 times and this brought my grade down in freshman year. I moved at the beginning of my junior year too. My uncle also died in sophomore year and he raised me in my childhood before I had moved to U.S. The stress of constantly moving and making new friends held me back, but I have not gotten a C ever. I believe the personal statement, Letters of Recommendation and Essays will be good. I believe IB is loved by the UC's too. So, Please Chance me for all UC's since I only want to get into any UC or University of Michigan. I am in-state and have gone to all the best public schools in my area and my family has $250,000 income too. I also took all the hardest courses with 2 sciences in one year. Also my mom was training out of state for psychiatry, therefore I had to usually maintain the house and cook and everything else. This was time consuming and interfered with education. Thank You and I will chance back to the best of my knowledge.

Can I get into a UC with the competitiveness of the premed program, mainly Davis, LA, Irvine or Michigan.

If I don't get into the specific premed program, can I still go to med school? I am a little confused on the system.

Thank You and I will chance back to the best of my ability.

Also, I have been looking online and am confused as to which GPA do UC’s look at. I have heard that the uncapped UC GPA is the most important. But some say its the total high school GPA which for me is 4.05. So should i care about the UC GPA or the total one? My UC GPA is higher. Thanks.

UCLA: Match
UCD: Low match
UCI: Low match
UMI: Match/High match

What’s your problem with UCSD? Probably a better pre-med than UCLA…

For UMich, your GPA is right at 50% and you SAT is at around 70%, so you have a fair chance. It should be a Match/High Match for you as Catra said.

Thank you. I don’t have a problem with ucsd. In fact that’s probably my top2-3 but overall I would say my dream school is Davis.

I won’t chance you as no one can do that-the college admissions game can never be predicted. However, as a physician, I will advise you not to list a family history of diabetes as a hook- diabetes is so prevalent that it will probably not gain you an advantage unless you did some cutting edge research

Wow I would’ve never guessed that. Thank you .

Yeah. I was also wondering why would you list DM as a hook.

Sent from my NookColor using CC

I though it would be a good hook/ background story. I did not know. What should I do to make my chances at Davis a “safety”?

I think UCD would be a low match to match. Perhaps not really a “safety” yet.

Bump. Anyone else please?
