Chances for UC's and USC?

What are my chances for UCLA, UCB, UCI, UCSD, UCSB, UCD, USC, Stanford? Also, do I have any chances at an Ivy league school and any other match schools?

9-11 GPA
unweighted 3.74
weighted 3.97

UC 10-11 gpa
unweighted 3.79
weighted 4.13

3 AP's so far and 2 more next year
WHAP (4) AP Eng Lang (3) AP Psych (5)

ACT composite 33
SAT I 1940 (should i retake or just send ACT)
SAT II math 2c 750 lit 600 (retake both)

sports and various other ec's

rank top 10% of about 600

volunteer 300+ hours

location: california
ethnicity: asian

bumppppppp

Um your GPA and ECs are great. Courseload is good as well. However, you really need to work on your SAT I and SAT II scores. If you feel as if you can’t do better on the SAT I, take the ACT, since according to CB, your score only increases by a combined 50 points.
I’d say that UCB, UCLA and Stanford are reaches because of your SAT scores; the rest should be target schools. I don’t think you’d have much of a chance at the Ivies though, since I’ve heard that most people who apply there have stellar stats.
Chance me please? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/974360-chance-uc-colleges-special-case.html

bump any more?

bumpp should i bother for ivys

If your parents can afford it, why not? I hope you won’t base a decision to apply for a school on what these people say.

I think post #3 must have missed that you scored a 33 on the ACT already. Yes, a 33 on the ACT is very good and do send that.

would my 33 act + my gpa make me competitive for the top tier uc’s, usc, and some ivys?

yeah, definitaly send to ivys, when people tell you not to, its because they didnt get in, so they think why should you

thanks everyone!

Some notes on the GPA figures to clarify the above:
The UC GPA figures are the weighted “UC GPA” while USC uses an unweighted GPA for their admissions reports.

For USC, the admissions results for 2010 admitted students were:

Unweghted GPA: 3.8
ACT Composite Middle 50%: 30-33
SAT CR Middle 50%: 640-740
SAT Math Middle 50%: 680-770
SAT Writing Middle 50%: 660-760

My post #11 was in response to a post that has since been deleted. Still might be useful information, though :)

I’m at USC right now, and based from my own experience and the experiences off my peers, I would say that you’re borderline for USC. It depends on your ECs at this point, which really does amount for a lot at our college, I do believe, and your SATs.

Edit: I did miss that you got a 33 on the ACT already. I amend what I said about SAT scores, though it can never hurt to keep retaking the test just to improve your score.

@poirotsfriend what were your stats when you got into usc?

Oh i also found out im elc since im in top 3%

Congratulations! Guaranteed this year: UCSB, UCD, UCI, UCM, UCR. Be sure to apply to at least one of those.

how did you find out which are guaranteed already?

I can’t find a way to post a link, but it was in a UC high-school counselor’s conference power point presentation titled COUNSELING ESSENTIALS FOR HIGH SCHOOL COLLEGE ADVISORS. Try a google search for it. Tonight it gives a “broken link” message, so it either was disabled or just isn’t working tonight.

Which campus are you most interested in?

well im most interested for the top uc’s but idk about my chances for them

if you are ELC, then you have guaranteed acceptance to UCD, UCI, and UCSB (as well as UCR and UCM)
