Chances for UCs+some privates?

I am an Asian male living in California applying in Economics

Weighted gpa: 4.0 Unweighted: 3.6 UC:4.2
ACT: 33 composite (34/33/34/29) but I am awaiting results and am sure I did better on the one I just took (last week)
SAT subject tests:haven’t taken yet-but am taking math II and USH

APs i have taken: World 3, USH 4, Env Sci 4, Calc AB 5, Lang 3,

Currently in senior year taking: AP gov, AP econ, AP stat, AP lit, instructional aid, forensics, chemistry

Extra Activities/Volunteer work:
Forensics team for 4 years, Captain of debate
Red cross club,
volunteer at a retirement home
cleaned up a local creek,
a good amount of tutoring
national honor society
chess club,
relay for life-fundraising for cancer,

Awards:
AP scholar with distinction
Superintendent’s honor roll

Colleges: UCLA, UC Berkeley, UCSD, (rest of UCs are a wash) Duke, Northwestern, University of Michigan, University of Pennsylvania

I think you have great chances for the UCs, U of Michigan, and Duke. Your ACT score and GPA seem in the average tier for those schools and I think those schools would look into you. Make sure your volunteer work is clear when explaining your activities instead of a “good amount” of tutoring which will tend to deter admissions officers.

I would go for the UCs and apply for the rest as reach schools, especially UPenn which does get tough (specifically for Econ!).

The UW GPA will keep you out of Berkeley, LA, and UCSD.

Your ECs are all over the place, and they will note your AP scores.

Your ACT is good. You need more safeties.

I’d add UCD, UCI, UCSB and UCSC to your list. Maybe CP SLO.

Your GPA is too low for Duke, Penn and Northwestern. You should add more match schools and fewer of the super selective schools.
