UC GPA capped weighted? https://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/
You look like a competitive applicant for UCSB. Best of luck.
Thank you for reading my post, GumbyMom! Weighted and capped 4.11
when taking a tour at UCSB last week and speaking to an admissions counselor, they mentioned that they only look at 10 and 11 grades and cap at 4.4. @Gumbymom - have you heard this? It was different from the rogerhub calculator
@sandjunkie: The Rogerhub UC GPA calculator gives you 3 GPA’s: UW UC GPA, Capped weighted UC GPA which all UC’s use and usually list on their admission profiles and the Fully Weighted UC GPA which only UCLA/UCB state they use and also list on their Freshman profiles.
So to answer your question, yes I had heard this and Rogerhub calculator is correct for the capped weighted UC GPA using only 10-11th grades in the calculation. The only CSU/UC that uses 9-11th grades is Cal Poly SLO.
You are probably ok – I’d say 75% chance of acceptance.
@Gumbymom - Thanks for the info. If UCSB caps at 4.4, my son is sitting at a 4.3. I am not sure if that helps or hurts his chances vs if it was capped at 4.2. Didn’t know that UCLA used a Fully Weighted UC GPA. Not sure if that will help or hurt him there as well.
He has a 4.2 10-11th grade capped UC GPA and a 4.3 uncapped. He has a 1470 SAT with a 800 in math. He is applying to Engineering majors at each.
This based on the capped weighted UC GPA. Overall a very competitive applicant.
Freshman admit rates for UC GPA of 4.20 or above:
UCB: 42%
UCLA: 54%
UCSD: 87%
UCSB: 85%
UCD: 91%
UCI: 94%
UCSC: 95%
UCR/UCM: 98%
