African American
In state
UC Gpa : 3.5
Good ECs
SAT:1790
Good College essays.. ACT and SAT II scores coming in..
do I have a chance? Thanks in advance.

You have a good shot to get in. I think that ur in.

An UC GPA of 3.5 is really low and the UCs don’t consider race in admissions. UCSB is a reach for you, unfortunately.

Nah because i know people who had a lower UC GPA and lower SAT scores that got in.
Good luck, i hope you get in :)

^^The UC system states that it does not use affirmative action, but some of its decisions strongly suggest that it does.

Yea, the 55% Asian population at Irvine obviously implies that the UCs practice AA. Colleges can easily avoid anti-AA laws, but they have the decency to not commit illegal actions. If they don’t want their applicants to break laws, they themselves won’t.

…

According to an UCLA admissions officer, ECs account for about 30% of the decision process. If you are spectacular in that area, then I say you have a decent shot. Otherwise, I still say UCSB is a reach.

i’m pretty sure ucsb is a reach, even if he is african-american. he really needs to elaborate more

Im economically disadvantaged, Ive done alot of community service and I took the most challenging schedule.

^In that case, then I say you have a decent chance.

Thanks, My parents are both refugees so I think my essay will be really good.

It’s not illegal to use holistic review, which UCs do when they wish to. Decent shot.

Thanks… Bummpp

Can i get one more person to chance meee pleaseeeeeeee
