Also recently got accepted to UCR and UCM if that adds to anything
UCSC would be slight reach due to lower than average ACT and GPA. Outstanding essays could definitely help your chances.
@Gumbymom Ahh okay, thanks. BTW, is it true that some UCs (including UCSC) don’t read the essays? Anyhow, kind of nervous since the admissions come out tonight. :-<
Despite ur low stats, I think u have a decent chance given ur decent extracurriculars and “strong” essay. At least from the uc davis decisions, it seems ucs are being a bit more holistic this year. Hope we both get in tomorrow morning!
Based on the UC’s application review criteria and the common data sets, essays are highly considered and can be used as a type of tie breaker between 2 equally qualified applicants. I am sure that not every application essay is read, since they will probably go through a screening process based on GPA and test scores first.
