I’m currently a junior in high school. Any advice to improve my background for what the UCs specifically look for? Also, do UCD/UCSD superscore?

Subjective: yeah I’m really lacking, I don’t do sports or music
Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): newspaper (section ed/designer, newspaper has won national awards but not me specifically), Knowledge Bowl (co founder, we have placed globally)
