Chances for UF, FSU, UCF and FIU?

No one here wants to definitively say that you are in to your dream school, only to have you be rejected. Which honestly can be very problematic.

You’re most likely in for FSU- like 90/10 odds. Just keep in mind that “a lot worse students” may have had a stellar admissions profile in other areas. GPA and SAT/ACT score, while being very important, are not the sole decision makers on applications.

But in reality, odds are significantly in your favor that you will get in.

I think I can be objective…I went to UF undergrad and UM for grad school, and now my HS Senior is interested in the Music programs at UCF, FSU and South Carolina. While he also applied to UF, he seems less interested based on their music program. He already received his acceptance letters to USF and UCF, and I have to admit UCF grows on us daily. Yes, we live in Orlando, but the music professor had him come out early and is clearly interested. Stats: 3.6 weighted UF/UCF/FSU GPA with 7 AP classes and almost all honors for everything else; 4 years marching band, 3 years wind ensemble (1st chair as a senior), 2 years Jazz, 2 years Chamber Winds, National Honor Society, SAC, Beta Club, 200+ volunteer hours.

It’s all about the music program for him, so it’s an entirely different world…

GatorNole - you’re a shoe-in for FSU. UF is tougher, I don’t care what anyone else says, it is what it is…being hispanic and having siblings who went or are attending, plus your great community hours, strong SAT and rigourous class schedule looks strong to me. I’d apply for Summer for sure, but I think you have a decent chance of getting in. Keep hope alive!

The [most recent Common Data Set for FSU](http://www.ir.fsu.edu/Common_Data_Set/2010-11/C.html) shows enrolled freshmen students with an average of 3.76/4.0.

It doesn’t matter that you think you know who enrolls, only what shows up in the reported data. A student with an ~3.2/4.0 GPA constitutes only 7.3% of the FSU freshmen. NOT good odds if you rely on this data to give you strong confidence.

My brother got into fsu without applying for summer and he had a 3.2 UW and 3.8 weighted but pretty low SAT scores (i think 1700 and 23 for ACT). barely any community hours, no clubs, but he did do football and track. 3APs which he got a 2 on all of them, AND he applied extremely late. I honestly have no clue how he got in (this was last year btw). So I would think you have a very good chance at getting in for fall. Dont stress yourself out.

Was that his total GPA or his academic GPA Vapperss? I’m a total wreck and I freak myself out over the smallest of things, and right now, my GPA is my concern. Ha

oh i made a mistake, it was a 3.3 not 3.2

Your GPA is a little low for UF. But, FIU and UCF are easy as heck to get into so you will definitely get into those schools. FSU will probably accept you, too.

Also, I don’t know why you put that you’re Hispanic, what does that have to do with anything? But, if you want to go to a Hispanic school definitely choose FIU everyone there is Hispanic and proud.
