Chances for UF? Questions? HELP!

Hello everyone! I am beyond nervous about applying to UF because I feel I am very borderline on being accepted, at least from what everyone tells me. Here is my "profile":

GPA: 3.56
Weighted: 4.03
SAT: M:670 R: 550 W:600 COMP: 1820 (I am already signed for the upcoming one)
ACT: Taking it September 10th

I've taken the following APs:
Freshman: Human Geography
Sophomore: Environmental and World History
Junior: Biology and Psychology (also dual enrolled over the summer for both World Religions and Anthropology)
Senior: Physics and Government/Politics

Class rank: Roughly 235/760 or approximately 30%

Now before you tell me 'no' purely based on my academics, I have a lot of awards/extracurriculars.

I transferred going into my junior year so I have accolades from 2 separate schools (also credits were unfortunately awarded differently for both schools).

I was in the first year of the "Pre-AP Program" at my school which continued on to my sophomore year (took the top 70 students from middle schools applying).

Accolades/Extra-Curriculars:
Top 5% (freshman, sophomore)
Medical Health Sciences Academy (freshman, sophomore)
3.5 Academic Honor Roll (I have the physical award for freshman and sophomore year, but technically I have gotten it through all 4 years - any ideas?)
HOSA (Health Occupation Students of America) member (freshman, sophomore)
HOSA 3rd place regional winner in the EMT competition - state competitor (freshman)
Gilder Lehrman Program invitee and member (sophomore)
Junior Varsity lacrosse captain (sophomore)
Junior Varsity "Most Improved Offense" award (sophomore)
Florida Phoenix lacrosse club (junior)
Varsity lacrosse player (end of sophomore year, junior, senior)
Amateur guitar player (junior, senior)
Chief Executive Officer of Astronomy Club (senior)
Project Aquila manager of Astronomy Club (senior)
Save What's Left member (senior)
Leadership class (senior)
Varsity basketball stats/team manager (junior, possibly senior)
SGA member (senior)
NHS member (senior)

Service Hours:
Roughly 220 (going for at least 275 by time of application)

Volunteer roles:
HOSA Haunted Hospital (sophomore)
HOSA Blood Drive (sophomore)
Multiple Sclerosis "Hopscotch 4 a Cure" supervisor (junior, possibly senior)

Can I put the following on my application? If so, what category?:
US Lacrosse member (sophomore, junior, senior)
CPR Card Holder/American Heart Association member (junior, senior)
GEM Program (6th and 7th grade, transferred schools 8th - not offered there)
National Junior Honor Society member (7th grade, transferred schools 8th - not offered there)

Conflicting issue:
I had perfect attendance my freshman year, however, a teacher marked me absent for 1 period (which doesn't make sense because I attended all other periods that day) and the issue was never resolved. Can I place perfect attendance on my application? Or would I need to have something worked out with my old school?

Also, I would love to get a club started at school. Any ideas what club I should start? Possibly a "Health" or "Medical" club? I wanted to start a Quidditch but I feel that is not going to work out well.

Any advice is appreciated! Also, I know my essay will play a HUGE role in my acceptance (working on writing it now). Thanks for taking the time to read all this!

A few more questions: I want to apply to the Summer 2012 term. Is it true it’s “easier” to get accepted for that term?
Also, does what you put as your intended major affect your chances of getting in? (for example biology is VERY common for UF)

Another question. My sister got accepted for spring term last year. Does this affect me at all?

also depends on what type of school you went to, one of my friends who is as smart as a rock got into UF with an 18 ACT on a scholarship because they want to attract kids from low privileged schools.
your EC’s are pretty solid, perfect attendance would just make for padding your resume dont bother putting that on, and yeah summer admissions are usually more lenient
a 1900+ would really help or 28+, aim for those not only to get into UF but also for bright futures scholarship

James:

My son is applying, with much higher stats, but even he is not a shoe-in.

Admissions at UF appears to be a crap-shoot.

I say this because I have seen postings on CC by kids who say they got rejected at UF, but got into University of Virginia, or even MIT !!!

UF takes so many subjective things into account, including the part of Florida you are from, your essay, your race, your socio-economic background, etc. etc. etc.

And of course, if you could play on their Lacrosse team, assuming they have one, that would be an important factor too.

They also have a new January admissions program now, so you might want to check that out.

A sibling can’t hurt. If you haven’t done the official tour and visit, do so.

It truly is a crap-shoot.

Thanks for all your feedback everyone! Any idea about the major affecting admissions? I currently have a tutor for ACT and I’ve been averaging around a 29 but I’m shooting for a 31. I have heard so much about UF rejecting kids who are well qualified and I’m praying I don’t end up in that category. I have seen there “Innovation Academy” and I’m not too interested seeing as how you can’t attend fall terms. Also, UF had a D1 club lacrosse team that I would love to play for! Does anyone have information on my middle school items, as in can they be added to my app and where?
