Oh, boy, your reading SAT is a real problem for someone trying for UHC and merit $$. Are you sure it wasn’t an accident and taking the SAT a second time wouldn’t help? I mean, for a student in the top 7% and with a 4.0+ GPA, a 560 on ANY section of the SAT seems like an anomaly. That is unless your high school isn’t competitive at all and/or your first language is not English.

In any case, I think you should really try to boost your reading score and write a better than “average” essay. Otherwise, the odds are against you. Good luck!

I don’t think a 1320 SAT will get you into Honors let alone any merit money. The following recent thread discusses some numbers for Pitt Honors and merit money.

Good luck with PSU Schreyer and Penn.

The minimum SAT for Pitt honors was 1400, the average SAT (CR+M) for freshman admitted to the Honors College this fall was 1457. The ACT (composite) was a 32.

As is, you’d definitely get into Pitt and can start down a bioengineering path which is an excellent undergrad program at Pitt. The other good news, as is, you can easily become part of the honors college after you get to Pitt even if you aren’t automatically placed in it with your freshman admissions. Anyone at Pitt can take honors courses and become an honors student and ultimately receive a BPhil. The college is designed for openness and flexibility that is based solely on the motivation of students to take advantage of it.
For academic awards, you probably need to get your SAT up in the 1450 range. The good news here is that Pitt superscores and doesn’t really look at the writing or other components. That means you could just concentrate on improve your critical reading section. The rest of your criteria profile looks good.

i was an in state student last year, 31 act, 4.0 gpa, top 2% of my class and got a $2,000 scholarship for 4 years and also got into honors college
