Your GPA is definitely going to help you as UIUC cares quite a bit about statistics. At the same time, your composite SAT score is on the lower side in comparison to what they usually get (in terms of ACT, they usually get a composite of 35 or 36). I also want to go to UIUC for CS, and I recently talked to an admissions officer who does mostly engineering and CS applications (I’m in-state and I go to a school that gets a lot of acceptances from Urbana-Champaign). The two big parts that she said were emphasized in applications were ethnicity (because they want underrepresented minorities, which really won’t help an Asian like you or me) and ECs. Why ECs? They want to see that people do activites other than computer science. They would rather have a well-rounded, sociable person who just happens to be good at progamming than someone who only does activites related to engineering and/or CS. I think your ECs will certainly help out with that, especially the Future Business Leaders of America. One thing the officer advised not to do was to state that you do “coding” or “programming” in your ECs, because literally everyone puts that on their application. Unless you’ve done something on a national scale (such as your Desktop Application award), it won’t really help your application and will just saturate your list. I think you have a shot - the only major aspect you should improve on is that SAT score.
