<p>My friend is a immigrant european immigrant who's lived in the US since he was 8.
He wants to do Electrical/mechanical engineering at UIUC, what are his chances of making it?</p>

<p>He’s got pretty good scores (he might want to bring up the GPA and Physics SAT scores if possible) and great ECs. I’d probably say Match.</p>

<p>If he is oos, it will be a low reach considering the low GPA (avg near 3.9). If in state, he will be a high match. His SAT2 is not very impressive for top engineering schools, however, UIUC does not require it anyway. Forget about the SAT, his ACT is better and yet below average for UIUC engineering (mid 50 is 31-34). For UIUC, you apply directly to the program. So if you are applying to a popular program like ME, you need even high scores.</p>
