Chances for UMD

Background: I am a Korean-American female, currently living IN Maryland.I am a senior. Both of my parents did not go to college. My mother does not work and my father owns his own contracting company. My older sister attends UMCP currently. We are financially stable.

Academics:
My unweighted GPA is a 3.9/4.0 and my weighted GPA is a 4.33/5.00.
I have take mostly all Honors and AP courses in my high school career.
AP Courses Taken: APUSH, AP Biology, AP world history, AP Lang, AP Lit, AP Physics, AP Calc, and AP Psychology.

SAT Scores:
580- critical reading
610- Math
600-writing
(Bad SATs… i know)

Extra Curriculars:
Class Historian (10th and 11th) and Secretary (12th)

UMCP is my top choice and I would love so much to go there.

Everything looks excellent except for your SAT. A 1190 (UMD does not look at writing) is far below their average. As of right now, I would say you have an okay chance of getting in, but not outstanding. If you were to retake the SAT and aim for at least at 1300 (CR+Math), you would have a much better chance.
