Hey! I applied to University of Maryland- College Park for Fall 2010 and I was wondering what you guys thought my chances of acceptance are? I have a 3.45 Weighted GPA and took several AP courses and participate in tons of extracurricular activities. I also got a 1790 on my SAT. I've already gotten into Penn State- University Park. Also, neither are in-state for me if that makes a difference.

Thanks!

A lot of public universities are having budget problems so being out of state might help you. I think its a reach.

Ok, thank you! Any other input?

I’m surprised u didn’t get notification yet. Almost everyone got a decsision letter about 3 weeks ago. I guess u applied for regular decision.

Anyway honestly u have almost no chance of getting in considering your fairly low gpa and sat score. I got rejected and I have a 3.75 weighted gpa and 1980 sat score. I didn’t even get deferred to second semester. Just flat out rejected.

But the thing is I live in state and a lot of colleges especially umd are going for more out of staters so it might be a bit easier for u. Even with this I still think your chances are pretty low because umd really looks for high grades and sat scores. That’s their main admissions factor. I heard they basically don’t look at the rest of your app if your gpa is less than 3.5 unweighted.

The only realistic way u could get in is if you’re spanish.

Good luck though!

Thank you!! And yeah I applied regular decision.
