chances for UMICHIGAN, UWISCONSIN, PURDUE, UIUC, MIAMI

What are my chances for Umich, Purdue, U Illinois (Urbana), U Wisconsin Madison, Penn State- University Park and Miami (OH)?
(Btw both of my parents went to MIAMI OH)
Umich: EA
Purdue: EA
UIUC: EA
UWisconsin: EA
Penn State: EA
Miami: EA

Intended major: Meteorology/ Atmospheric sciences and/or Environmental Sciences
*for most of the schools I’m looking at it is in the College of Engineering or Science

I am out of State from AZ, I go to a small (only 55 kids in my grade) liberal arts charter school, one of the best in the area.
Also lol I know for all of these schools tuition will be very expensive because I am out of state but it is okay!

GPA: unweighted 3.91 (out of 4.0) weighted: 4.81 (out of 5.0)
Rank: N/A but probably top 15/20 % of 55 kids in my grade
*Idk if this matters but the public schools in my area are very poorly rated, and not many students are very high achievers

Thank you all very much in advance!!!

As the mom of an incoming Miami freshman S engineering student, I think you have an excellent chance for Miami. This is based on your own merit and not your Miami merger status. You took the most rigorous classes you could, and I bet learned much of the same curriculum taught in APs. Your GPA and test scores are in line too.

You (or your guidance counselor) may want to reach out to the various colleges admissions departments and ask more specific questions regarding if a lack of AP courses would affect your chances. I don’t think it would, but for peace of mind, ask the questions.

You are a girl interested in STEM, so I hope you have fully explored summer engineering camp opportunities offered for girls at some of the top engineering schools.

Remember to show real interest in every school, including official visits when possible. This includes Miami, btw. Just because your parents can show you around, you want that real official visit as part of your application package.

For CoE at UMich, it would be a reach for you. For LSA, it would be a lower reach but still a reach. For UIUC engineering majors, it is also a reach for you. Try to bring up your test scores for these schools. Purdue and UWI should be high matches to matches.

@Materof2 thank you so much! Actually I have visited Miami and I loved it! Such a pretty campus!

@billcsho thank you!

Im not certain about the other schools since I don’t know about their academics, but I know you will easily get into UW Madison with that high GPA and a solid ACT. Penn State is also a pretty easy acceptance letter for you.

Purdue does RA, not EA

Not only Purdue does EA, it is required for merit aid. The deadline for that is Nov 1.
