Hey! I hate to add to another one of these types of threads, but I would really like a few opinions about my chances of getting into FSU Fall 2011.

GPA: 3.9 weighted, 3.5 unweighted
8 AP classes and 9 honors classes
ACT composite: 25 (I took the Sept. test and will be receiving my score hopefully tomorrow)
SAT composite: 1720
Math - 550 Reading - 570 Writing - 600 (I'm taking the Oct. test in two weeks.)
Class Rank: 35/500 (Top 7%)
I'm treasurer of my drama club and have had three officer positions in my school's Scholars Club (community service and college research club) over the past four years. I've been a member of a leadership program at school for the past three years. I've volunteered at an elementary school for the past six years. I have also tutored someone in Algebra I. I have won academic awards. I also have received drama awards in competitions.

I plan on majoring in Public Relations or Communication Studies.
Also, I am a Florida resident.

Thank you in advance. Also, I'm wondering if applying for the summer 2011 term would an easier term to get into than the Fall 2011 term.

everything looks good except the sat and act–they are a little low…hopefully you’ll have pulled up some on ACT. you should apply for the early deadline and indicate Oct. SAT scores pending if you can…get your application in for the early deadline–Oct. 15 even if SAT scores aren’t available your scores are on the low end of the 50 percentile of 2010 freshman…your best chances are with the early application…they may accept you, or hold off until more scores come in. but don’t wait…get your application in now and write a great essay.

I am applying for the October 15th deadline.
I noticed that my scores are my weakness, sadly. According to College Board and FSU’s website, my scores are towards the bottom of the middle 50%, but I could improve more so I am definitely in that middle 50% or more.
I guess it helps that writing is my strength so I can write that killer essay. ;)

My daughter wants to go to FSU as well. #1 in her class, 30 ACT, 1940 SAT, 4.73 GPA weighted, 4.0 unweighted. Activities include Freshman, Sophomore, Junior and Senior executive boards, NHS 10-12, Beta and Interact 9-12, SWAT 12, Drama club 11-12, yearbook staff 12.
Also over 640 hours of community service.

LTKTD5- My D got in for summer with SAT scores just slightly better than that (and a lower GPA). The Admissions Director, Janice Finney, is a wonderful person. Perhaps you can email or write her a letter of interest and ask what it can take to get your foot in the door. She is very helpful and will respond to your questions. Retake the SAT. Even if you get the reading/writing scores up a little, it may make a difference. Sometimes when you show some extra determination it can help the outcome. I think you have a pretty good shot. :~)

Yes FSU is rolling. My teacher used to be an admissions officer there, and I asked an admissions officer if it was yesterday on this online chat thing they held.

No, I can tell you the FSU is not rolling admissions. They have a priority deadline of OCT 15th for a decision on DEC 8th. They have a regular deadline of JAN 19th for a decision MAR 16th.

Here is what they say on the website:

There are two days that students hear decision results for FSU. USF has already admitted students and UCF has as well. YOU WILL NOT FIND A SINGLE STUDENT WHO HAS AN ACCEPTANCE from FSU or UF for that matter… No one will hear before Dec 8th. And if you don’t hear that day you have to wait until Mar 16th.

My daughter is #1 in her class with a 4.73, 30 ACT, 1940 SAT, and we were told that she’d have to wait til the 8th of December which is, by the way, her 18th Bday.
UCF has already accepted as they have rolling admission and so did JU(with a scholarship to cover 1/2 the tuition). We are waiting for FSU as that is where she really wants to go.

Truth. Maybe I misinterpreted. Crap. Does that mean that my SAT scores that I just took from October and my transcripts need to be there by Friday?
