Rank: 21/322 (top 6.5%)
SAT: Taking in October. The first time I took it was above 2000 and I am realistically aiming for a high 2200s to over 2300. But who knows.
ACT: 34, no writing. Retaking with writing in September.

Significant Awards: AP Scholar with Distinction, will prob be National Merit semifinalist (228 PSAT), Gold medals on Natl. Latin Exam (Latin I-II).

Extracurriculars:

Mu Alpha Theta - member since freshman year, Executive Board member this year (teaching precalc/trig during after school practices)

Junior Classical League - member since sophomore year when I took Latin I. Served as co-historian junior year (placing top 3rd at state for school's t shirt, scrapbook, chariot, etc and 5th place nationally for our scrapbook), attended almost all events, two state convention and 1 nationals, decent number of individual awards at state conventions. I am the Convention Chair this year. Also got class Award in Latin II (highest GPA)

National Honor Society - Seniors-only at my school, so there has not been many events yet. NHS at my school offers weekly tutoring for students, and I've participated in a few of 'em.

Linguistics Club - I am founding a club to practice for the North American Computational Linguistics Olympiad at my school along with 2 sophomores this year. Last year was the first year our school participated in the test, and we were the only non-seniors.

I've also joined some other random clubs throughout my high school career but was never heavily active in them.

Martial Arts: since 8th grade.
Piano: kindergarten to 10th grade, but I was never really good at it. Minor awards/certificates.
Chinese School: quit in 10th grade.

Volunteer Experiences:
- joined Beta club as a sophomore and participated in events
- volunteered at piano events and Chinese school
- participated in a volunteer program for expat Taiwanese teenagers with Taiwan Red Cross this summer and earned 60 hours

Work Experience:
- occasionally translated some speeches and articles from Chinese to English for my aunt, a prof at a Taiwanese University and was paid for it, if that counts? >_>
- Latin tutor for classmate during junior year

Comments:
- My weaknesses are lack of consistent community volunteering and that AP Lang score. GPA is so-so.
- I don't know if I should apply for McCombs BHP with my stats, since I know they do admissions based on rank and I'd be out of state.
- applying to UPenn for fun ok dont judge....

Thoughts? I haven't decided which school I will apply ED for yet.
