Chances for University of British Columbia :)

Hello, I am a high school senior looking to study at UBC for CS. My GPA is 3.2 UW, 3.78 W. I took almost every single AP and Honors course my school had to offer. My super scored ACT is a 30. My best ACT would be a 29. I would like to know what my gpa would be translated to on the canadian scale and rather or not I have a chance at getting into their program. I took the most difficult math courses and I did struggle in them(I got C’s). However, in order to make up for them, I took summer school courses and got A’s in those. The reason my gpa is low is because of family deaths that occured during sophomore years as well as health complications during junior year. My senior GPA is actually pretty good. I had 4 A’s 2 B’s and 1 C. What would my chances be at UBC? Thank you so much for your time .

I think you have a very strong chance of getting accepted. What faculty are you applying to? Sauder is the most selective; so is Engineering.

Faculty of Science

Have you also applied to other schools as safeties? What is your GPA if you ignore your freshman year of high school?

yep, I applied to Purdue, IU, UMN, Marquette, and The UC System. Not sure what my GPA would be w/o my freshman year cause our school doesn’t tell us that. I am assuming a tad lower. I got into Purdue(For Undecided, got waitlisted at CS so decided to go Undecided and transfer second semester in CS if I do attend) and Marquette(for CS) so far. Waiting on IU and UMN

You should likely get in if you have A’s in all of:
Precalc 12
Physics 11/12
Chemistry 11/12
English 12

I got B’s in all of the courses youve staded above except Precalc as I took precalc honors in junior year and got a B first semester and C+ second semester due to extreme illnesses and missing a lot of the semester(roughly a quarter). I took AP Physics, AP Bio, Chemestry honors and AP lit and got B’s in each of those. I am currently taking AP Calculus BC and got a C+ first semester.

Do well on the AP exams then. Those can displace low grades on AP courses.
