Hi! I too plan to get into Upenn. I think your grades are pretty good and your ECS are great but do you just throw em on your application? Or do you just slap em on? Also, its great that you were Club Vice President. I think you have a pretty strong shot. What program do you wanna get into? and what were your AP Scores anyway? Your grades are definitely great and your composite SAT score should get you in. your senior course load will also play an immense factor bc you’re taking AP Calc, AP Chem and many more APs.

Good luck!! I’m sure you’re gonna get in!!!

@xxBeastxx Based on his EC’s and school choices, he probably wants to get into Wharton/Stern. AP Scores aren’t crucial for admissions.

Wharton is going to be a reach for you. Your EC’s only go so far to indicate your passion for business, which Wharton really looks for. Have you had any internships or leadership positions (like section/state VP for FBLA) that you didn’t add?

With that 33 for the ACT and your top 10% ranking (and even with that UW GPA, though I’m not exactly sure how it was calculated) I believe you may be a match for Stern, with your being a high match at the least.

@capitalamerica Actually, Wharton really doesn’t care about whether or not you have business related ECs. They also don’t like applicants showing an excessive interest in Finance.

@HvePassion You may be right. I had the preconception based on the fact that a 4.0/2400/unfocused EC’s student a couple years ago was accepted by every school she applied to but Wharton (and is now a senior at Harvard), as well as the fact that everyone I know who’s been accepted to Wharton has been heavily involved in business related EC’s.

I didn’t know about that second part, though. How did you find out about that?

wharton admissions board:
“this guy seems to like finance a lot”
“hmm yeah, created a trading algorithm…interned under the CEO of Morgan Stanley…”
“eww he likes finance too much, why would we want him?”
“yeah you’re right. hey this girl likes to dance! I bet she’d be a great investment banker”
“tru dat homes”
