Chances for UPenn?

I'm really interested in going to UPenn for pre-med and in their minor for Korean studies. UPenn is my dream school, and UW is currently my back-up.

I'm currently a junior in high school with an UNweighted GPA of 4.0.
I'm from a smaller private high school in Washington, so there aren't many AP classes. I'm taking AP US History this year, and probably 3 more next year (AP Bio, AP Chem, AP Cal).

I'm Korean-American, ranked 1/93 in my graduating class so far, and I've taken the SAT Subject Test: Korean with Listening, and got 770 (possibly retaking next year). I'm planning on taking the US History one after the AP test. Also, I'm the first one in my family to go to college. I haven't taken the SAT yet, but I'm planning to take it in March, and I expect 2000+.

I've also played varsity tennis for 2 years, and I've been an FBLA officer for 2 years. The first year I was secretary, and I'm currently the vice president. For community service, I only have about 20+ hours helping as a TA in a school teaching Korean to other Korean-American students, but I plan on volunteering in hospitals this summer.

Bump~ Bump! Bump~

Any ideas about my chances???

Little early to be too precise, but at this rate, it looks like a low reach/mid reach.

You need more information. You won’t really know until you take the SAT or ACT…That will seperate the cream from the crops.

I have to agree with the two posters before me, your SAT scores are what determine if you should even be considered, and then from that point everything else determines whether you should be admitted. Take that SAT! HA…

ahh… I’m taking it in March, but if I get around a 2100, then how would my chances be?

Ivies usually look for 2500+ but around 2100 can give you…a CHANCE i think

But that doesn’t make sense because the highest on the SAT is 2400…

i don’t think your getting into penn if you didn’t sense the sarcasm in xdelerious’ post

ohh… any advice for me?

2100 falls in the lower end of the middle 50% for any Ivy, lack of APs and ECs are also going to hurt your chances. I assume Korean is an ORM so I’d say a high reach.

What is an ORM?

Bumpity BUMP~

To koreansnow,
Hi, First of all UPenn, wants to see an overall all rounder students for their University. often a bit low SAT score like 2000-1950 can get you to it if you have the right essays, high GPA and EC’s. So its really difficult to predict for these colleges only with the SAT score. Just keep working hard, and I’m sure that your dream will come true.
All the Best
Cheers!

Thank you! ^^

Hmm… Does UPenn specifically stress on something??
Like rank or GPA???

Bump!!!~ Bump~~

2000+ won’t cut it with those ECs

What other EC’s can I do?
Our school only has FBLA as a club, no others.
