Bump!!! Any advice??

Don’t limit yourself to school ECs!

Look around for volunteering opportunities. Do you have a hospital near by? Most hospitals allow student volunteers to help out with basic things like changing bed sheets, getting water for patients, handing out snacks, etc. Or if there is an animal shelter, volunteer there. Try starting a canned-food drive at your school. Are there any drug prevention organizations in your community? What about habitat for humanity projects?

Look up “community services, [county, state where you live]” and I assure you that you’ll get a lot of ideas!

Chance me!

Thank you! ^^

Bump Bump Bump
(trying to keep this thread alive)

People tell me that Penn looks heavily at class rank. Also legacy tips the scales in the ED round. I think if you get your SATs above 2150 you have a great chance. Would you chance me please? SAT 2180, Class rank 30/155 (top 19% - this is my weakest point), ECs are choir, band, theatre, student government, newspaper, 20+ hrs/week job, great essays and recommendations, two generations legacy and child of employee. Oh, and I applied ED and hope to get my acceptance in a little over a week!

Legacy seems like it’s gonna help you since you applied ED. Unfortunately, I’m the first one in my family to go to college… I’ve been hearing that SATs around 2100 or so are on the lower side for Ivy League, but yours still looks good. Your class rank isn’t super, and your ECs seem a bit lacking based on what other people are saying. Do you have any community service? Your job seems like a lot of commitment though for 20+ hours a week!
I think you’re gonna get accepted! Good luck to you!

BUMP! ^bump^ BUMP!

ORM = over-represented minority.

2100+ is not bad by all means but it won’t put you in the most competitive pool. But then, SATs are kind of overrated. Start doing more ECs. Write great essays. Cross your fingers :)

ok! Thank you!

bump, bump, bump…

lack of APs will not hurt your chances, you are judged based on your environment; not many APs offered, no worries. Again, make sure your test scores come in high and being number 1 in your class is certainly going to help; so as of now I would say you have a good chance.
