I like NU, just wanna be closer to home and like upenn and yale

Yale - Reject
Penn - High Reach/Reject

3.5 college GPA just isn’t competitive for top schools. Your high school stats are clearly competitive (though your SAT I is pretty mediocre), but your college GPA is the most important factor in your success/failure in transfer admissions. Unless you have some outstanding soft factor we’re not aware of, I don’t see either school happening for you.

Frankly, I don’t see why you’re leaving if you like NU and are so lukewarm about Penn/Yale. Transferring is an arduous, life-changing, and exhausting process; one that should not be embarked upon lightly. I think you need to revisit why you’re transferring, because location alone isn’t a valid reason - top schools want to know why you want to go to their institution specifically.

i second wayward. the only thing i can see working is if you wait another year and pull those grades up to a 3.8+. and you will need to write amazing essays in addition to bring up your gpa, so you need to come up with better reasons than just liking yale or upenn.

Ya i realize no chance at yale, however for penn i thought i still had a chance. My gpa is low first quarter, because of my extremely hard math class which only 40 people take per year. I received a B in it so… Regardless i appreciate your responses, and ya i probably shouldnt be thinking about transferring anyway considering im relatively happy at NU. I also realize the better reasons. I just was not going to post them on this board, because i don’t understand how it would be affect how people on this board would chance me, unless i had a ridiculous reason.

Yale and Upenn -Unlikely. However, an acquaintance of an acquaintance did transfer to Yale from Hunter college with a 3.4 gpa, so you never know.
