Chances for URM at Ivies

My friend's in the middle of applying and is asking me if she has any chance of getting in, so I thought I'd do one of these for her.

ACT: 30

ECs:

Chances At:
Harvard
Yale
Northwestern
Macalaster
Wesleyan
U of Minnesota Honors (safety)
U of Wisconsin Madison (safety)

In everywhere but HY (that doesn't mean you shouldn't apply, however.)

In everywhere. Good chances at HY..

Hahah, as meaningless as these threads are, she's going to be super-relieved. Thanks :D.

To be honest you...ahem...sorry...i mean your friend :P is facing pretty slim chanves at Harvard, Yale and Northwestern. SATs are good, but not great (especially for HY and Northwestern standards). Hasn't taken full advantage of the APs on offer to her/him and their ECs are pretty basic...nothing in the application is blowing me away to be quite frank. I'd say they would be on the bottom tier of possible admissions (if thats any consolation! :) )

Harvard:Reject
Yale:Reject
Northwestern:High Reach

Wow... she totally BOMBED SAT II scores. Those (and AP test scores) are what really show the interests of the student. Although your friend's GPA and class rank are good, HYPSM turns town 4/5 of its valedictorians (I read it somewhere, dont remember where). Her ECs are O.K. and SAT scores are very low if she expects to get accepted in H,Y, Northwestern,Wesleyan.

^ I think it's actually more around 2/3 of valedictorians. Still a very intimidating number, nonetheless haha.

And, she didn't bomb the SAT II's at all. A 750 in Lit is excellent and a 720 in French is worthy of mention. However, that 680 in Biology can be a little damaging. Depends on her major though...

"Wow... she totally BOMBED SAT II scores."

joke? am I missing something?

watch this person who posted this thread actually be the chick whose applying to the ivies... well whatever the case may be, i would say "she" has a decent chance. Good SATs (1 and 2s) and stellar GPA, ecs alittle weak (lol)... but yeah... lookin' good. See you at Harvard.

Hahahah, no, it's not me.

I'm a white liberal arts kid, though I'm applying to Harvard too.

No, I say she's into Northwestern. I've seen quite a few other URMs get in with worse stats.

HY are a reach, but definitely possible.
