Chances for USC??

I want to go to USC for the Annenberg school for Broadcast Journalism. Here are some of my stats....

3.87 GPA
Ranked 12/500 in class
2040 on SAT (taking ACTs in June)
Only 4 AP Classes, rest honors
Proficient in Spanish
Half African American, Half Indian, Female
Dedicated to community service
Public Relations Officer of Key Club
Apart of the News Network for our school's announcements
NHS
Spanish Club
Dance Club
Drama Club
No sports, might do tennis next year though depending on where I stand

Where do I stand? USC is my dream school, so your opinions will really benefit me. Any recommendations (retaking the SAT, more clubs, etc.)?

Rack up lots and lots of EC’s! For your GPA, is that weighted or unweighted? If it’s weighted, you need to put everything you got into senior year for a last ditch effort to pull up that GPA. SAT score could go up a bit, and try aiming for a 31+ when you take the ACT.

Oops! That is my UNweighted GPA  I am having a hard time remembering my weighted GPA and can’t seem to find my unoffical transcript right now but I will get a new one tomorrow. I think it’s 4.3?

You should be right in the running for a spot. Especially if you score high on your ACT. I got in with a 4.29 GPA, rank 9/~300, 31 superscore ACT. but I had a lot more ECs and student government/ leadership positions, sports, etc. Also, make sure you write great essays. Start working on them over the summer! Good luck :))

Thank you so much  so did you end up attending USC? And, as for ECs, I just don’t know what else to join hahaha I’m also in the GATS club (gifted and talented students), have been in a couple plays, and actually recently began acting through an agency and have been in so far commercials, a movie, and an anti-smoking online ad?? Do i still need more? My school does not offer many clubs 'maybe i should start one :)

Well volunteer hours and ECs, as long as you have a good balance of them. I will be attending USC (just admitted this March, class of 2016!)
