Chances for USC

<p>USC is my top choice right now, and I'm hoping to get into Marshall and possibly minor in music industry or music recording. What chances do I have to get in? </p>

<p>3 APs before senior year, 3 currently (environmental science, bio, Calc AB (failed second semester, currently retaking at local CC because it was not offered at my high school this year), currently taking English lit and comp, physics B, and stats)</p>

<p>SAT 1960 (720 M, 640 CR, 600 W)</p>

<p>ACT 35 (36 E, 34 R, 34 M, 35 S)</p>

<p>4th ranked High School in Oregon (rigorous science oriented small school)</p>

<p>ECs:</p>

<p>Mock trial 3 years
-mentor for younger students</p>

<p>Model United Nations 2 years</p>

<p>Science fair 2 years </p>

<p>Started a dodgeball league junior year (currently largest club (65/185 students in school, also includes a teacher team), well-organized and run by a four-person committee, working on branching out to other local high schools)
-We have one school definitely interested, hoping to get about six more schools. (I'm hoping to write the USC supplement essay about creating this club)</p>

<p>Teaching myself how to play guitar, and writing and recording songs using GarageBand </p>

<p>Martial arts since 6th grade
-Currently second degree black belt and instructor
-around 10+ hours per week instructing and training,
-part of demonstration team that has won first place at national qualifying tournament every year since the division was created
-over 100 hours community service/volunteer hours as part of black belt tests (black belt tests are centered more on becoming a well rounded member of society rather than just learning how to fight)
-academy is one of the largest in the state
(Using prompt 4 for the common app to write about my time at the academy)</p>

<p>I am also going to the off campus Discover USC event near my town, and doing an off campus interview. I hope that I will be able to talk more about my experience with dodgeball and martial arts, and also about my low GPA.</p>

<p>That GPA is a very difficult thing to overcome.</p>

<p>I know my GPA is very low, but I’m hoping that my strong act score as well as retaking calculus will help that.
Also, what should I wear to the Discover USC event and the interview? I don’t want to look too casual, but I’m not sure if I need a shirt and tie for this.</p>

<p>If I can get six other schools in my district to join the dodgeball league, will my chances go up?</p>

<p>Also, I qualified for AIME in my junior year, is that something that should be brought up?</p>
