Chances For USC

I am a senior in high school from New Jersey
4 year varsity lacrosse starter and captain senior year
national language honor society-LATIN
act=24
sat=1600
m/r=1080
gpa uw= 3.38
weighted=4.1

what are my chances for USC and clemson

Well if you look at the thread about people being deferred with ACT 27 and 4.4 GPA - it may be a long shot.

Son got into USC with 26 on ACT, weighted GPA of 3.2, took 3 AP junior year and 4 senior year. Lots of Different ECs with some as officer, volunteers, works summers etc, from public HS in NY.

It’s a tough call… will be close based on the stats posted on the USC website. Your ACT of 24 is barely in the 50% range and the SAT is below the range - but they’ll use the ACT since it’s higher. Your GPA is good. Also, I can tell you the stats for Clemson are even higher as my daughter applied to both schools. If you haven’t heard back yet, sounds like you applied Reg.Dec. I know it’s mute now but you should’ve considered applying Early. I think it helps sometimes. Good luck!

SAT range: 1120-1280
ACT range: 24-29

Son in with SAT 1080 and 3.33 UW GPA.

^ opie12 - wow,that’s great! Are you guys in state or out of state? I know it’s a bit more difficult out of state (as is the case with any out of state school). Also, those stats I posted from the USC website are the 50% range, therefore, 25% are above and below those.

Yes, he is in state (no hooks). Out of state it’s more difficult to get in. USC attracts many well qualified OOS students with merit aid, it’s honors program, and by offering OOS students in state COA.

Thank you for the info. I will be waiting in suspense until March when they send out the notifications. Hopefully I am one of the few lower scored students that gets accepted!

I am a senior I applied regular decision my GPA is a 3.8 unweighted and a 22 on the ACT with tons or extracurricular activities I’m wondering how much my ACT score will make a difference with me getting in or not and what my chances are!

^ Brandonf22 - look at the stats I posted above for the 2012 Freshman Class Profile (and 2013 is most likely higher). Since both your GPA and ACT fall below the 50%, I’d say you have a 25% chance of acceptance. If I were you, I’d take the ACT again before then- or submit an SAT if you have that and it’s better.

Check the website, but time is running out to submit scores…I think credentials are due by Feb. 1.
