Chances for UT Austin (not top 7%, in state)

Hey Internet, I am a high school senior planning to apply to UT Austin as a Mechanical Engineering Major. What are my chances?

Asian, Male

Class Rank: 64/580 (11%)

GPA: 3.83 UW

SAT: 700 R&W, 760 Math (also had another one with 630 R&W, 780 Math)

ECs:
Engineering Club
FTC Robotics
Latin Club
Teacher’s Assistant at Chinese School
Computer Vision Summer Internship

Achievements:
FTC Robotics - won UIL (state championship), got to semifinals at Worlds
AP Scholar with Distinction

I’d also like to point out that I’ve lived outside the US for the most of my life (came here freshmen year), but I am a citizen.

Non auto admit applicants should treat UT Austin as a reach.

Also, engineering majors are additionally competitive.

Yep, it is a reach. However, you would be a good candidate for PACE/CAP, one of the programs in which you start at a UT branch and transfer or start at ACC and transfer. Apply and see what happens. If you don’t get in and really want UT, get in through one of the other programs.
