Hello everyone.
I'm currently attending Austin Community College, and I'm hoping this is my last semester there.
I've recently submitted my application, and I just wanted some opinions on what you guys think my chances for transfer admission might be for the College of Liberal Arts. I've been told that my chances are pretty good by numerous professors and students, but you know how it is...two months is a long time to wait for an official decision.

Here's some information that may help you evaluate my chances:
26 credit hours (11 in progress)
3.76 GPA
Member of ACC Honors and Phi Theta Kappa
One withdrawal
Dropped out of high school (no ACT or SAT scores)

As for my extracurricular activities, I'm afraid that I've not been the most active in my community.
I have little to no volunteer work or charity, and I've only worked two jobs -- my resume is weak. However, I feel as though my essays are really strong (maybe I'm a bit biased).
I also come from a low-income family, and I'm Hispanic. Let me know if you need more information to make an educated guess as to what my chances are.
These threads are pretty selfish, and I feel bad for posting yet another "will I get in" thread, but the wait is pretty rough; hopefully you guys can relate. Anyway, any response will be appreciated.

Here is what the UT Austin website says: To be eligible to apply for transfer admission, you must have graduated from high school or earned a GED and have completed or be currently enrolled in the remaining coursework to earn at least 30 semester hours of required transferable coursework.

It looks like you will have to deal with the HS thing and you must have at least 30 transferrable hours of work. If you can satisfy those two things, getting in should not be a major problem. Given the cost difference though, I would complete two years at community first but make sure you take the Texas “Core” classes (42 hours) in during those years. Those hours are transferrable by state law if you get the necessary grades.

I applied to UT as a transfer student from a Florida Community College with a 3.8 GPA, 30 transferable credit hours, 6 years Active-Duty Navy, Veteran, 2 strong essays, and 6 recommendation letters from military officers, and still didn’t get accepted. It’s just too competitive nowadays from what I hear. I’ll be attending Texas State in the Spring.

For Lindsey, this is way late, but what major were you shooting for when you applied? From reading your post, sounds like you should have had a solid chance.
