Chances for UT-Austin Transfer

moved from another thread

Hello everyone.
I'm currently attending Austin Community College, and I'm hoping this is my last semester there.
I've recently submitted my application, and I just wanted some opinions on what you guys think my chances for transfer admission might be for the College of Liberal Arts. I've been told that my chances are pretty good by numerous professors and students, but you know how it is...two months is a long time to wait for an official decision.

Here's some information that may help you evaluate my chances:
26 credit hours (11 in progress)
3.76 GPA
Member of ACC Honors and Phi Theta Kappa
One withdrawal
Dropped out of high school (no ACT or SAT scores)

As for my extracurricular activities, I'm afraid that I've not been the most active in my community.
I have little to no volunteer work or charity, and I've only worked two jobs -- my resume is weak. However, I feel as though my essays are really strong (maybe I'm a bit biased).
I also come from a low-income family, and I'm Hispanic. Let me know if you need more information to make an educated guess as to what my chances are.
These threads are pretty selfish, and I feel bad for posting yet another "will I get in" thread, but the wait is pretty rough; hopefully you guys can relate. Anyway, any response will be appreciated.

I think your chances are good with a GPA of 3.76.
I’ve heard that the admission is largely based on GPA.

A 3.76 applying to COLA is all but assured admission.

Thanks for the output, folks. Anyone know when they make the admission decisions?
Since I don’t have 30 credit hours, will they give me the official decision only AFTER I send in my current grades from this semester? Or will they make a decision before then?

Hm…missed that part first read through. You won’t receive a decision until after you send them your transcript from this semester, because you have not completed the 30 hour requirement and thus will not actually be eligible until the semester is over. Regular decisions get sent out in April, you probably won’t receive one until after they get your grades from this semester.
I’m not exactly sure how this will affect your chances. I do know they give precedence to applicants who meet basic admissions criteria at the deadline, but i’d still say you’ve got a pretty solid shot.

you should be good! I got in last year for Fall 2011 with 3.26 GPA into Engineering, yes, 3.26. I KNOW you can definitely get in with your GPA

^ did you do CAP? That’s kind of incredible.

@babycakin… please share some of your stats!
