Chances for UT Cockrell Mechanical Engineering (or just engineering in general)

Hey all,

I’ve been lurking around on this website for a year or so and finally decided to post something as I’m a rising senior getting ready to start applying to colleges this fall.

Anyway, I was wondering if my stats would make me competitive for Cockrell:
I got a 1500 on the SAT (740 EBRW; 760 math). I’m retaking the SAT in June to get that thiccc 800 in math and taking the June ACT in addition.

(Also, is there much difference between a 760 and an 800 on math?)

I also have a 3.95 unweighted GPA, but it might go down to 3.91 after my final report card comes out. My school doesn’t rank, so I don’t know if it really matters, but that’s what I have anyway. (Have a 4.5 weighted GPA currently). I’m also an in-state resistant.

I know stats aren’t everything, but I just wanted to know if it would be enough to make me somewhat competive for admission into mechanical engineering at Cockrell.

Thanks for everyone’s input!

UT class of 2023 hopefully!!!
