There are two things i’m worried about. First, My middle school grades are bringing my GPA down from a 4.2 to a 3.97. According to Naviance, very rarely do people under a 4.0 gpa get in.
Also, I had the easiest classes possible for freshman year. Will colleges give me credit for stepping up the rigor as high school progressed?

i also have an sat score of 1520

I am not aware of middle school grades included in GPA.

Yeah they are I checked.

What I am saying is that I am not sure that when a transcipt is sent to a college that the college looks at the middle school grades. Many colleges recalculate their own GPAs for purposes of reviewing applications and many colleges just look at the rigor of your classes (in terms of what your school offers) and the grade you got. If everyone from your high school has to have the middle school grades put on their transcript then the colleges you are applying to will know. It will not put you at a disadvantage. All colleges look at what is called a School Profile…

sorry for the misunderstanding… They may not look at middle school grades but as I’ve mention before, my classes earlier on were not rigorous. Also, i’'m guessing many students did better during middle school than I did

Naviance at our school is similar to yours but Dean J always says they don’t have a GPA requirement and you are exactly the type of student where I think that applies. If you can keep up with the grades and rigor your senior year I think you stand a decent chance (assuming you are instate). I would apply RD next year though so they will have 1st semester senior year grades for you. UVA seems to really like strong leadership and extra curriculars so working on that would be helpful too.

SAT score of 1520/1600? When I took it, it was out of 2400. If it is 1520/2400, it doesn’t look very good

no, it’s out of 1600
