Are you in state, or out of state? If in state, I would say that you will be accepted. Out of state- not sure. It's pretty competitive.

Im out-of-state, and im extremely nervous, UVa. is by far my number one choice. Ever since I visited with my sister (who was accepted in 2005) i fell in love with it.

hmm i'd say you're on the fence, based on the stats of the kids that got in/deferred from my school

I am about the same boat as you and want to go
ACT 28
GPA 3.94
11 Honors now 15 by graduatio
NHS, TRACK
I hope u got a good shot b/c i wanna go

After an extensive evaluation of your scores, I was unsure whether or not you would make it into UVa. I ran your scores into a neat program given to me by Middlebury Professor C. Katz, which concluded that you were not quite up to par with the standards UVa expects. Your application would be one of the average ones received, making your chances of getting in quite random. Professor Katz has dubbed your condition as the "human condition", as there is nothing you can really do about your situation. Unless you are Native American or African American? I know a student who received an 1790 on his SAT but he was accepted to Stanford because he was able to prove he had Neanderthal blood.

Well, you still have a chance, even out of state. Could you possibly play golf in college? Have you contacted the UVA golf coach, if there is a team? If they asked for a prospective major, what did you say? Sometimes having an unusual one helps. Also, if in the essays (and interview, and recommendation), you painted an interesting picture of yourself, it will help. Golf may help- I would look into it. It sounds like your strongest EC.

Neanderthal Blood? Didn't homo sapiens evolve from Neanderthals, meaning that all of us have Neanderthal blood?

That guy, my friends, know how to work the system.

I'd say on fence also. Know a boy who got in this year OOS, was 1 in class of about 300. Old SAT 1400+, but don't know his last years scores. He had 4 years varsity tennis and eagle scout (those were main ones)

However, a friend of Ds was rejected in 2003--SAT 800verbal, 760math and legacy, plus 4 years varsity sport and lots of community involvement! She was 3rd in class from that same high school

thanks for all the input guys, that GPA is unweighted btw, dunno if it matters though...
and ive already had an interview with one of the head admissions counselors at UVa. who knows my family personally (although UVa. directly states interviews play no part in the admissions process because they believe it needs to be blind) i guess i just need to work hard until the day comes and hope for the best

and about the golf, yes i think i could easily play golf for their team, but i have not yet contacted the coach

Easily? Chaudoinker, I have seen you on several threads and you seem pretty clueless; UVA is an athletic powerhouse. If you could "easily" play golf for their team you would already have been contacted by the coach in order to recruit you.

andrw, you have no idea what youre talking about and UVa. is by no means an athletics powerhouse....
i have viewed their golf stats and their number one golfer is not much better than me, i have a sibling at UVa., you should watch what you say, i think i have a pretty reliable source

a boy at school got in with 3.8 1900 i dont know about ECs ( Roanok, VA)

well im excited for him but out of state admission is not nearly as liberal as in state, UVa. i practically ivy acceptance rate out of state

that is true

OK chaudoinker so if it's practically ivy league admissions... it's obvious you are in a serious reach category. Plus, you will more than likely not be on the golf team cocky piece of ****

again, i really dont like you and please dont post on my threads anymore

The average GPA at UVA is 4.0 and SATs around 1300 so that would put you more or less a little under their averages, and considering that the GPAs would be higher for OOS kid, but at least you understand your situation, and if you think you can make the golf team , hustle and do what you gotta do to make it or if you dont make it you can transfer(?)

how do you become a junior member?
