Chances for UVA

Hey everyone, what's up? I am currently a freshman at Villanova University in Pennsylvania and am currently applying as a transfer student to UVA. At 'Nova, I am enrolled in the College of Commerce and Finance (the business school there). I have done quite a bit of research on UVA and the transfer process and I know that to pursue a degree in business, I will have to spend a year in the college of arts and sciences at UVA and then internally tansfer to McCentire as a junior - needless to say, I will be applying to the schools of A&S.

Why UVA?...Well basically, two reasons. Most importantly, I want diversity in both the student body and education. Villanova is a great school but there is a flaw, I think, in their curriculum. From day one, a student at Nova is enrolled in the business school and takes business courses. It would be great to talk a chemistry course or writing course, a psycology course or sociology course before pursusing my business degree. Who know's - I might fall in love with a different academic field. Similarly, Villanova (or Vanilla-nova, as it is often referred to) is made up of students from NJ who are white, rich, and Catholic. Everyone's viewpoint is similar and very few people have unique experiences to share in the classes. UVA, I hope, can offer me these things.

Secondly, the cost and location. For half the price of 'Nova, I can receive an education at a Top 25 National University. In fact, as a resident of New York, there is a strong possibility my father will re-locate to Virginia with the Marine Corps, qualifying me for residency benefits. I also have spent a lot of time in Virginia and absolutely love it there!

High school GPA: 3.82 --very competitive public HS (ranked in top 15% of class)
ACT: 32
10 AP's -- Credit on 8

College stats:
3.73 GPA through first semester (no curve's at Villanova)
Several activities
--Hockey team
--Tour group
--College republicans
--Accounting society/financial society
--Student job

Courses Taken & Grades
-Core Humanities Seminar (A-)
-Business Calc (A-)
-Intro to Micro (A)
-Business Law (A)
-Intro to Italian (A-)

I even retook the ACT in december (will they look at it since I took it as a college student?) but have yet to see my scores. What do you think my chances are of successfully transfering to UVA for the Fall of 2005, especially since I am NOT a resident of Virginia.
