Essays
-I've been told they are very good

Recs
-Pretty sure they'll be great
-Also got one from the judge i interned under

High School
-My school is centered around dual enrollment so during my junior and senior years i took around 12 classes a year, all either college or AP, so im hoping to make up for my low gpa with high course load and rigor.
-My school also doesnt rank but im pretty sure im around 80%, hoping to make up for that with the class-load thing.

Misc
-I interviewed for Vandy and Duke and they both went very well.
-Florida resident.

Your GPA, if UW, is on the low side and your ACT score, while competitive, won’t salvage the GPA. I would say these are your odds (and remember, despite some being reaches, if I read your profile under the Duke RD Accepted thread, I wouldn’t be surprised):

Duke: Reach
Vanderbilt: Low reach
UNC: Match
NYU: Match
UF: Easy

Well i think what i did on my apps to make me stand out was really focus on my interest in law. I have a bunch of law-related ECs and i even wrote my common app essay on the death penalty (tried to make it respectful and noncontroversial).

Your ACT is excellent and your GPA is decent. Your extracurriculars aren’t spectacular but are certainly acceptable. I think I agree entirely with intentando. I think you have an excellent shot at the last 4. Duke will certainly be a struggle but it is for everyone that applies. Best of luck and I hope you get in!

I’d agree with intentando about your GPA. However, everything else (based on what you listed) shows great potential to get accepted by the really competitive schools, Vandy and Duke. I’m impressed by your EC’s too; demonstrates lots of leadership and involvement. Do any of them relate to your desired major? I’m sure it’ll up your chances if you talked about them in your essays. Wish you best of luck; I hope you get in.

Vanderbilt/Duke: Low Reach
UNC/NYU: Match
UF: Low Match

@JD1327 Thank you, and my major is political science and i intend to go to law school. I mention this in my essay and couple of my ECs are law-related.

Your interest in law is evident and I think your judicial internship is really cool and interesting. You are a competitive applicant. GPA is NOT everything. I think you have a good chance at Duke and Vandy, they are reaches of course, but you have a really good chance. UNC and NYU are solid matches and UF is a safety, especially because you live in Florida.

Great leadership and variation in ECs with a focus on law! Un-weighted GPA is a bit low but you have a very good ACT score that puts you in the top tier for those schools and shows you as an academically competitive candidate. Good recs and interviews are definitely a plus.
Duke: Mid-Reach
Vanderbilt: Low reach
UNC: Match
NYU: Match
UF: High safety
Good luck!

Vanderbilt: slight reach (I think it is for everyone though!)
Duke: slight reach (same sentiments as for Vandy!)
UNC: Definitely in
NYU: I think you’re in!
UF: safety

Your admission chances depend a lot on how well-regarded your high school is and how passionate you come across in your ECs. Assuming you are mid-tier for both, here is my opinion:

Duke: High reach (mid-tier test score, low GPA)
Vanderbilt: Low reach (your numbers match up, but it’s still a competitive school)
UNC: Match
NYU: Match
UF: Easy
