@Sloth83 yes it generally will. It may help to make up for GPA deficiencies, though there truly is no guarantee if you’re not in the top 10% of your class.

I would question the wisdom of UF: Safety, If you have a 3.5 or above GPA in FL, than you would be a candidate for
Florida Academic Scholars Award (FAS) which I am sure you are aware. I don’t see in your EC’s any community service. “All initial applicants must meet the community service requirement, as approved by the school district, or the administration of the private high school”•FAS initial eligibility requirements include the completion of 100 hours of community service. After it is determined you meet the first cut with your GPA/ACT, you are not eligible for the FAS than the holistic approach takes over. The lack of community service vs the thousands of FL. students with the same GPA and ACT will make your admission a reach.

NYU-match
UF-safety
UNC-high match(it’s not that easy for OOS applicants)
Vandy-reach
Duke-reach

Not familiar with these schools but your GPA needs a little more boosting, especially if it’s weighted. Good luck!

@mark2m The camp counselor thing was community service. I got 480 hours from it.

I agree with others, you show a good passion for law in your ECs and have decent gpa/act scores so I think you have a decent shot at all except slight reach for vandy and duke

Duke: Reach
Vanderbilt: Low reach
UNC: High Match (hard for OOS)
NYU: Match
UF: Safety

UF: Safety, they’ll probably offer some significant aid
Vandy & Duke: Reach, very low acceptance rate so nothings a guarantee
UNC & NYU: Match/High Match so long as your essays are good you’re in!

Vanderbilt: low reach
Duke: reach (it’s very selective, since they filled up like half their class already)
UNC: match
NYU: match
UF: good safety
btw, for the gpa, does your school rank at all? if you are in the top 10%, you have nothing to worry about.

Duke:Reach
Vanderbilt: Low reach
UNC:Match
NYU:Match, but it’s so competitive I’d still treat it as a reach.
UF:Safety

vanderbilt and Duke are reaches but you should still apply the you probobly getting accepted

You got a great test score! As for your GPA… A bit on the low end for some schools, but as long as you did well in other areas, I believe that it should help you get into a few of these schools. But as someone has said, hopefully you’ll stand out with your essays. It’s good to hear that you wrote about something that you’re passionate about.

Duke: Reach
Vanderbilt: Low Reach
UNC: High Match
NYU: Match
UF: Match

NYU: Match
UF: Safety
Vanderbilt: reach, but because of selectivity not requirements. Still apply!
UNC: High match
Duke: Reach

I got in to UNC with an application similar to yours. I had some sports but other than that I think you would be good for UNC.
UNC: In
Duke: High reach
UF: Definitely In
NYU: In
Vandy: Slight reach, in

Duke is a reach, but almost all other schools you’re in.

UF: Low match (UF is never a safety for anyone anymore)
UNC-CH: Reach (you’re OOS; if you’re good enough for Duke, you’re good enough for UNC-CH)
NYU: Match
Vanderbilt: Reach
Duke: Reach

GPA is a bit low, and your activities don’t stand out much. I think you’ll be okay at UNC, NYU and UF, but the other two will be a bit hard. Vanderbilt will be more likely than Duke.

Duke: Reach
Vanderbilt: Reach
UNC: Match
NYU: Match
UF: You’re in

I’m not sure about the other schools, but you have a chance at Vanderbilt because of your ACT score. I know someone who had a few C’s but with good scores, ec’s and essays - she got in.

As others have said, Vandy and Duke are reaches. However, they’re reaches for everyone with their low acceptance rates. I’ve known people who have gotten into Vanderbilt who were much less qualified than you sound. With good essays and interviews, it should give you a great edge. Best of luck!!

Duke: Reach…write good essays…they like that
Vanderbilt: Match/Low Reach
UNC: I am an NC resident…so I don’t know too much about OOS…but I think you have a solid chance : Low Reach
NYU: Match/Safety
UF: …lol

I think its crazy that you have a 3.7 with 12 classes a year. I think that puts you ahead of a lot of applicants. Good Luck!! :)
