strong act I bet you get into vanderbilt

Vinderbilt: Reach
Duke: Reach
UNC: Match
NYU: Match
UF: Safety/Match

Per my private message, most of these people have no clue what is and isn’t a safety. Certainly let us know what you did get accepted to.

I think you’re definitely a match for all of them except Vandy and Duke, but they’re just competitive, so you never know. You definitely have a chance otherwise, pretty solid academics, activities, and test scores

Vanderbilt low reach/match
UNC match
NYU match
UF safety
Duke low reach

@mark2m Just got in to UF!

Vanderbilt: Low Reach
UNC: High Match
NYU: Match
UF: Safety
Duke: Reach

Have you taken the SAT? You may want to retake the ACT to improve your chances, but your ECs are pretty loaded with nice leadership positions. Your GPA could use a little improvement but overall, I’d say that your chances are good for these universities. Keep in mind that Duke and Vanderbilt are reaches… especially Duke.

UNC, NYU, and UF are safe.
Duke and Vanderbilt can be reached with more outstanding EC’s and if you have a wonderful essay. I feel like your EC’s may be a little lacking for Duke and Vanderbilt. My friend got into Duke with a 34 ACT and 3 year All-State Orchestra.
Please chance me back: <a href=“Chances for Cornell, Rice, Carnegie Mellon, Yale, Duke, U Penn, etc (Junior) - #2 by ivygirl1819 - Chance Me / Match Me! - College Confidential Forums”>Chances for Cornell, Rice, Carnegie Mellon, Yale, Duke, U Penn, etc (Junior) - #2 by ivygirl1819 - Chance Me / Match Me! - College Confidential Forums;

Don’t know much about the others, but I think you have a decent chance at Duke and great @ NYU and the others.

Vanderbilt: medium reach
Duke: medium reach
UNC: match (this is Chapel Hill right?)
NYU: match
UF: safety

It also depends on your intended major. Although your GPA may not be the highest, if you want to go into an area that is relevant to that internship that you did, it can go a long way because colleges love to see interest in a specific line. Good luck!

@2015er Yes it is chapel hill, and my major is polisci

@sloth83 That’s great that you have an internship and a letter of recommendation from someone in polisci! Your chances are definitely higher because that will show through when admissions officers are reading your application.

Your EC’s seem fantastic and I’m totally jealous at how many there are! Your ACT score is great and makes up for the GPA.

Vanderbilt: Reach
Duke: Reach
(These two are reaches for most people.)
UNC: Match
NYU: Match
UF: Safety

Schools you’re applying to are very good, but you seem to definitely be on track. Your GPA scale is different than mine, but it seems okay. ACT and EC look good. You seem to be on Track to me, good luck!

UF: Safety (I got in did you)
NYU:MATCH (in)
VANDY:LOW REACH(only because of acceptance rate. It’s all up to chance)
DUKE: HIGH REACH (only because of acceptance rate. It’s all up to chance)

Duke: Mid Reach
Vanderbilt: Slight reach (although duke+vand are reaches mostof the time)
UNC: Match
NYU: Match
UF: Safety

Your ECs are really strong with a lot of leadership positions, so nothing to worry about there.
Getting a recc letter from a judge, especially if your applying as prelaw, won’t hurt.
I think you’re going to get into UNC, UF, and NYU easily.
Vanderbilt is not something to stress over if you have great recc letters–they’ll look at your GPA, but they’ll also take your ACT into account so they’ll probably assume your weird GPA scale messed you up somewhere.
Duke might disappoint you, but if you left an impression during the interview, there’s nothing left to do but wait :)

Good luck!!

Vandy: very low reach considering you have interned there
Duke: same as vandy
UNC: match
NYU: match
UF: for sure in

Vanderbilt low reach
Duke reach
UNC match
NYU match
UF match
