good for vandy, not good enough for Ivy

<<good for="" vandy,="" not="" good="" enough="" ivy="">></good>

Realize that Vandy has been increasingly competitive over the last several years. Within the next few years I would expect the admit rate at Vandy to fall under 30%.

To the OP, you certainly have good stats. Your GPA would be competitive at Vandy, but your SAT score is low. I would work hard to bring that up to at least 2100. With your current stats, I think that applying ED, you would likely be admitted. RD would be tougher, but I would say you would have a good chance.

As college1 has stated, Vanderbilt will become more competitive as a top school in the looming future. In Korea here, Vanderbilt is not as popular as should be as say, Emory or Northwestern (comparable schools imo), but I have a feeling once Vanderbilt becomes more international, its academic prowess will be more reflected. Penn and Duke over about a single decade became one of the very elite colleges, and if you give Vanderbilt about 10 years, I think you'd be surprised how Vanderbilt will have grown.

Rishi I think your stats are great, and hopefully you apply ED and we both get in.
